Hot Yoga - FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What do I bring to class?
Please bring a large towel to place on your mat during class. (The center has extra mats if you don't have your own... we ask that you clean them with a sanitizing wipe provided by the center when you are through.)

How hot is it?
The temperature is a mild ~82F, so most people will do a little sweating! To be the most comfortable, try not to eat within 1 hour of class. Be sure to hydrate well before and after.

The center has filtered water in the Common Area however you may want to bring a bottle for class.

What should I wear?
Wearing shorts and tank-tops or similar may be best since the room is warm. Form-fitting clothing will help you to see your body in the mirrors, in order to help with alignment, identifying the muscles that you are working, and to learn to be non-judgemental about your physique. Baggy clothes may inhibit movement and make it difficult to visualize the muscles needed to hold the postures.

Is this Bikram/Power yoga?
No, our class is not the official Bikram Yoga. We do the same postures, but the heat is less intense, less fast-paced, and we can discuss postures a bit more, so it is more suitable for beginners or for people who struggle with 105F heat. Our class can definitely prepare you for those more intense types of yoga; come for a few months to condition yourself.
